Project

Create a branding system for a pop band dedicated to mental health.

Outcome

Palette of the Soul incorporates the colors of the soul, signifying the emotions that humans carry. Featuring bright colors and light, Palette of the Soul’s branding seeks to shine a light upon people’s lives.

Primary Logo

Branding

Each band member is transformed into illustrative characters meant to depict their style through the emotions they represent: anger, happiness, fear, and sadness.

Promotion

Utilizing the characters and colors catered towards their young fan audience who love music that speaks to the soul.

Characterized by not one but two different edges: soft and sharp. This font incorporates the idea of the versatility in Palette of the Soul, and the wide range of emotions in humans.

Palette of the Soul is a pop-rock band based in Los Angeles, known for their emotional sound and vivid storytelling lyrics. Their music explores the "colors of the soul," personifying the full spectrum of human emotions. Without emotions, we cannot stand. Without emotions, we cannot color our world.

Palette of the Soul embraces vulnerability, fearlessly expressing who they are and what they feel. Their music is an open invitation to be honest with yourself and to live authentically wherever you are.

10% of all sales directly support our community. Join us in raising awareness and advocating for awareness on anxiety and suicide in young adults.

Research

Key Words: nature, green, open, bold

In order to help develop a direction for Palette of the Soul project, I used a mind mapping technique to help develop a visual direction. I landed on the key words: soul, light, palette, and emotions

After I landed on the identity, I sketched ideas on how to present the members to the public in the eyes of the consumer.

I researched styles that stood out to me in the music industry, from K-pop groups to indie bands.

What is a band without its fandom? Incorporating the K-pop fandom culture, I implemented lightsticks for fans to support their favorite band in all places.

I wanted to implement the idea of splashing paint and light. Initially, I used a blob with a heart, but the blob wasn’t reading as a paint splatter. To solve this issue, I recreated it into a more uniform blob with neon lights.
